Could you share a bit about your life and career journey—what sparked your interest in pharmacy and how that path led you to founding SingMed Clinic?

My journey into healthcare began with a deeply personal experience—caring for a family member whose health was fragile. As the eldest child, I felt a duty to provide the best possible care, and that ignited my passion for pharmacy. Working across healthcare systems in multiple countries made me realize that each has its imperfections, yet each offers lessons. I appreciated the unique vantage point pharmacists have—we understand the entire chain from manufacturing to patient delivery, earning the affectionate title of "Michelin-star chef" in healthcare and pharmaceutical industries.

Before founding SingMed, I spent half a decade at a Japanese Fortune 500 company (Mitsui & Co.) that held stakes in many healthcare and pharmaceutical companies, including IHH Healthcare and Mount Elizabeth groups of hospitals. There, my team managed over USD 6 billion in healthcare and pharmaceutical assets across Asia Pacific. That global exposure inspired my return to Indonesia and the desire to introduce world-class standards here. SingMed Clinic opened its doors on November 1, 2023—one of the first clinics in Indonesia to staff a team of multi-accredited professionals, committed to bringing global practices home.

From being recognized across three Southeast Asian health ministries to earning BCMTMS certification, which personal values guided you in building credibility both at home and abroad?

Obtaining pharmacy registration in Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia—plus the prestigious BCMTMS credential from USA—was an 18-year journey of dedication and continuous learning. I believe in building credibility through integrity, competence, and an unwavering commitment to patient trust. For me, achieving international recognition wasn’t just a personal milestone—it’s a message of reassurance: that the care I offer is held to global standards.

What inspired you to transition from global pharmaceutical leadership into founding a clinic in Jakarta, and what was the biggest challenge you faced in making that leap?

My inspiration came from seeing how institutions like Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore serve international patients with exceptional standards. I asked myself: why can't Indonesia have that level of care? Establishing SingMed was about adapting those standards to our local context. The transition wasn’t easy—balancing global excellence with local realities was the toughest part. However, the team focused on doing the right things and since 2024, SingMed has Paripurna accreditation from Indonesia’s Ministry of Health, offering primary and chronic care with global insights.

What is the core vision behind SingMed Clinic, and what impact do you hope it brings to healthcare in Indonesia?

At SingMed, our vision is “trusted healthcare”—a belief that world-class care should be accessible to all. We blend international best practices, advanced technology, and a patient-first culture. My hope is that SingMed becomes a model for future clinics in Indonesia—proving that global-quality care rooted in local empathy can transform healthcare norms.

You hold registrations from Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia’s health ministries. How does this multi country accreditation shape your approach to healthcare standards at SingMed?

Holding triple licenses gives me access to a breadth of regulatory perspectives and standards across Southeast Asia. It allows SingMed to curate global practices—not copy them blindly—and adapt them intelligently to Indonesia’s needs. That global accreditation helps instill confidence among patients and professionals alike.

In your global roles—such as leading FIPHub and serving on the FIP Foundation board—what key insights have you brought into SingMed’s core operations?

As Director of the FIP Foundation for Education and Research and Global Lead for Development Goal 6 at FIPHub in International Pharmaceutical Federation, I am supporting the shaping pharmacy leadership development around the world. One initiative I’m particularly proud of is standardizing drug-use pictograms, developed in collaboration with Duke-NUS and Woodlands Health Campus. This initiative aims to improve medicine literacy, especially in areas with low literacy rates. These experiences taught me that healthcare works best when responsibility is shared—between providers and patients—and education is central to empowerment.

How does SingMed differentiate itself from other clinics in Indonesia, especially in terms of medical staff accreditation, global collaboration, and patient experience?

SingMed stands out because our team members don't just have local licenses—we bring international exposure and collaboration to every patient encounter. We operate as a multidisciplinary team where doctors, pharmacists, and nurses share insights seamlessly. That approach creates a more holistic, patient-centered experience that’s rare in Indonesia.

What are the daily routines or leadership habits that help you maintain focus and clarity while balancing global projects and local operations?

I’m extroverted by nature, and I stay grounded through connection and continuous growth. A guiding thought for me is Thomas Jefferson’s wisdom: “If you want something you never had, you must do something you’ve never done.” That keeps each day dynamic, purposeful, and growth-oriented.

Outside of your work in healthcare and pharmacy, what activities help you unwind and recharge?

I aim for 10,000 steps daily, enjoy photography, and used to play golf before my schedule became too busy. Physical activity fuels me physically and mentally. Maintaining mental health is like caring for the “software” of life—if it’s corrupted, nothing runs optimally. For me, balance means activity, social connection, and reflection.

How do you view the role of personal health and lifestyle—both yours and your team’s—in delivering high-quality care?

Healthcare providers must prioritize their own physical and mental well-being. Just like medicine, too much or too little self-care both have risks. At SingMed, we aim to model healthy balance—because only well-being can deliver well-being.

How do you personally define success—especially in healthcare innovation and patient impact?

Success to me is patient by patient. Every person we help is a success by itself. Multiply that across the community, and that’s collective success. Each case is a milestone toward better healthcare for all.

Looking back, what advice would you give to your younger self just beginning in pharmacy or global health leadership?

Honestly, I don’t spend much time looking back. What’s done is done—we can learn from it, but there’s no point dwelling on the past because we can’t change it. My focus is always on the present and the future: taking the lessons, applying them now, and building toward what’s ahead. If I could tell my younger self anything, it would be to keep moving forward, step by step, and never stop improving.

What dreams or projects are you still excited to pursue—whether expanding SingMed, educational advocacy, or public health initiatives?

I aim to grow SingMed progressively, while advocating for pharmacy education, leadership, and healthier communities. My work in providing health solutions and strategic partnerships is also something I’m actively developing.

For young Indonesian pharmacists or healthcare entrepreneurs, what would you share from your experience leading both global and local health efforts?

Master languages, especially English. Most medical research, journals, and clinical studies are published in English. Being able to access and understand them will open your perspective, deepen your expertise, and allow you to communicate more effectively with peers around the world.

What about Magani resonated with you?

Magani gives me a sense of calm and focus—something invaluable in a field where every moment counts. That tranquility helps me stay present, intentional, and at my best for every patient.
